Ms. Traci has been at LUMCDC since August 2001. After spending 8 years in the classroom as a half day 3 year old preschool teacher she decided to take all the children under her wing as director. She has an Elementary Education degree from Brigham Young University. With four children of her own she keeps busy with their activities and also enjoys spending time outside, gardening, camping, and good movies. Her favorite thing about working at LUMCDC is “Everything! The children, the hugs, the smiles, the wonderful families, the great staff, the sound of joyous noise coming down the hallway! What a blessing to spend time with these precious children each day!”

Christina Shore
Assistant Director
 
Ms. Christina has been at LUMCDC since October 2008.  She has worked with all ages and has been the assistant director since spring of 2010.  She has an associates degree in nursing and has worked in a child care setting since 1999.  She has four children ranging from 2 months-13 years old.  She enjoys reading, spending time with family, attending church and is looking forward to start back sewing again.  Her favorite thing about  working with the children at LUMCDC is “helping children learn and develop and also watching them grow.” 
Melissa Rybacki
Four Year Old Teacher
Half-day Preschool
 

Mrs. Rybacki has been at LUMCDC since 1993. She started teaching the motor skills class but soon entered the classroom as a 4 year old half day Preschool teacher. She has a BS in Elementary Education. She enjoys walking for exercise, baking and spending time with her family. Her favorite thing about working at LUMCDC is “Every day is different. I never know what to expect with 4 year olds. They are sponges who take in everything around them.”

Leslie Ogden
Three Year Old Teacher
Half-day Preschool
 

Ms. Leslie has been at LUMCDC since 2000. She taught the motor skills class for one year and has been teaching the 3 year old half day Preschool class for the past 10 years. She enjoys needlework, reading, and watching her children at sporting events. Her favorite thing about working with children at LUMCDC is “I like to see them learn new things and master new skills.”

Ms. Martha has been at LUMCDC since August 2008 and teaches our 2 year old half day Preschool class. Before coming to LUMCDC she taught at Weather Heights Baptist Preschool as was a special education aide at Chaffee Elementary. She enjoys walking her dogs, and participating in activities with her children who attend Grissom High School. Her favorite thing about working with children at LUMCDC is “teaching them to love Jesus and each other.”

 

Susan Schlessel
Enrichment Teacher
Two's, Three's, and Four's
Preschool and Childcare

Ms. Susan has been at LUMCDC since March 2011 and is our Enrichment teacher for our 2-4 year old children. She has a BS in Elementary Education from LSU. She has spent many years working with children in the elementary schools, tutored, taught Sunday school, as well as raised two sons. She enjoys traveling, crafts, and reading. Her favorite thing about working with the children at LUMCDC is “I love how they make me laugh every day. I love to watch them read a book to themselves. Once they know the title they use the pictures to tell the story. Such a great pre-reading skill! Having had my older son come to Preschool at Latham 20 years ago I feel a real connection here. You can’t beat our ‘small school’ atmosphere and everyone is such a delight to work with.”

Marcie Grooms

Miss Marcie has been at LUMCDC since August 2008 and currently is in the 3 year old classroom. She is a student working toward a marketing degree. She has 5 years of experience in the child care setting. She enjoys painting, beading, and any type of crafting. Her favorite thing about working with the children at LUMCDC is “I like seeing their faces when they learn something new that they thought they couldn’t do. I have very sweet children in my room.”
Linda Reed
Infant Teacher
Full-day Childcare
Ms. Linda has been at LUMCDC since August 2010 and is currently working in the Infant room but is known to help in the office as well. She has 12 years of experience as a certified preschool teacher. She enjoys reading, crafts and spending time with her grandkids. Her favorite thing about working with the children at LUMCDC is “listening to a babies laugh and watching them thrive and grow through learning about the world around them.”
Cheryl Cray

Miss Cheryl has been at LUMCDC since April 2011 and is one of our 2 year old teachers. She is currently in school working toward her Early Childhood degree. She has 5 years of experience working with children in the home and in a daycare setting. She enjoys going to school, teaching Zumba, and attending Latham United Methodist Church. Her favorite thing about working with the children at LUMCDC is “I love teaching them new things every day and watching them grow and develop. Each child is special and unique and my goal is to help them recognize that and know they are loved.”

Donna Haley
One Year Old Teacher

Ms. Donna has been at LUMCDC since May 2011 and is currently a 1 year old teacher. She also hangs out with the Infant/Toddler group at Good Shepherd Mother’s Morning out program. With four children of her own she has spent 15+ years volunteering at the schools, tutoring, Sunday School teacher, etc. She enjoys crafts, quilting, watching her children’s sporting events, and her pets. Her favorite thing about working with the children at LUMCDC is “watching them grow into their personalities and discovering little things such as their shadow, bubbles, jumping, etc.”
Vanitey Hundley

Miss Vanitey has been at LUMCDC since May 2011 and is currently in the 2 year old room. She is currently a student working toward a second degree and also cares for children at a Presbyterian church. She enjoys to writing, reading, watching movies, listening to music and attending church. Her favorite thing about working at LUMCDC is “their personalities are all so different and unique. I learn something new every day.”
 
Kay Meyers

Ms. Kay has been at LUMCDC since August 2011 and is currently our 3 year old teacher. She has over 20 years of experience teaching children at a Montessori school, in her home day care and other daycare settings. She enjoying painting, cross stitch, woodwork, knitting, crocheting, tile work, and computer graphics. Her favorite thing about working at LUMCDC is “the ability to teach each child all there is to see and do in the world and watch them grow.”

Ms. Ruth Ann has been at LUMCDC since August 2011 and is currently in the 1 year old room. She had several years of childcare experience prior to coming to LUMCDC. She enjoys crafts, walking, and going to plays at the Broadway Theatre League. Her favorite thing about working with the children at LUMCDC is “seeing the children’s faces light up as they do something new.”
 
Jessica Lambert

  Ms. Jessica has been at LUMCDC since August 2011 and is currently working in the Infant room. She is currently working toward a degree in Social Science with an education concentration. She enjoying reading, learning, spending time with her family and shopping. Her favorite thing about working at LUMCDC is “watching the children learn and grow before my eyes. I appreciate the bond that I form with each one and their families.”

Ms. Faith has been at LUMCDC since August 2011 and has spent time in both the Infant and 1 year old room. Before moving to Huntsville she had a daycare in her home for 6 years. She enjoys knitting, scrapbooking, and playing with her son. Her favorite thing about working with children at LUMCDC is “seeing them grown and learn.”

Miss Amber is one of our newer employees who started working in February 2012 and currently working with the 3 year old class as well as substituting when needed.  She is attending Calhoun Community College working toward an Early Childhood Development degree and is excited to put to use what she is learning in the classroom.  She enjoys her dogs, spending time with family and playing soccer.  Her favorite thing about working with children are the “little ‘ah-ha’ moments when the children discover something new.”
 Cindy Garcia

 Miss Cindy recently joined LUMCDC and is currently working in the 1 year old classroom.  She has 6 years of prior experience as a nanny and in a daycare setting.  She enjoys being a mom to her baby girl, reading, cooking, cleaning, hiking, and running.  Her favorite thing about working with children is, “interacting with the children as we read, sing, and create together.”
