UMCOR Health Kits for Haiti

In light of the natural disaster that struck Haiti, we find ourselves wondering "What can I do?" You can be part of the effort along with the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) to supply Health Kits to the people of Haiti by purchasing the items listed below and making a complete health kits or by purchasing one of the items in bulk to be combined with other purchases. These items may be dropped off at the Latham UMC Church Office or in the Welcome Center. Latham will deliver the kits to the Alabama Conference Disaster Relief Response Warehouse.

To make one Health Kit: Place these items in a sealed one-gallon plastic bag:

1 hand towel

1 washcloth

1 comb (large and sturdy, no pocket size)

1 nail file or fingernail clippers (no emery boards or toenail clippers)

1 bath-size bar of soap (3 oz. or up)

1 toothbrush (single brushes only, in original wrapper, no child-size)

6 adhesive bandages

$1 to purchase toothpaste (because of expiration dates on toothpaste, it will be purchased by UMCOR)

$1 for shipping packets

PLEASE DO NOT ADD ANYTHING TO THE BAG OTHER THAN WHAT IS LISTED. No religious pamphlets, no stickers, no candy, nothing. UMCOR will only remove it at their receiving stations and it makes more work for them. We want these kits to arrive as quickly as possible to the people that need them.
